Have you ever made a paper boat? They hold so much promise for about five seconds — until reality (and water) hit. I’ve made choices in life that felt the same way: beautifully folded plans that didn’t seem waterproof once the storms came. When we moved to Ukraine to help start a church, I had that same paper-boat feeling — eager, idealistic, and completely ignorant of the world we were stepping into.

One of my favorite songs is one we learned there. We can’t sing it in English because the translation doesn’t work. Here is the link with a youtube video attached if you would like to hear the music. https://holychords.pro/782?utm_visit
Paper Boat
Verse 1 A little paper boat once resolved to cross an ocean where a hurricane roared. In the passage there were storms and some others drowned, but the boat (representing the believer) trusted God with life and the rudder.
Chorus: A rallying cry: “Hey — we begin the path; we begin the path with Christ. Hey — we trust the path; we trust the path to Him.”
Verse 2: Even a paper boat will get through all storms if God leads. The rudder in God’s hand is far more reliable than a pile of metal at the bottom of the ocean.
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the master prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21
We all have moments when our faith feels paper-thin. But that’s exactly when God shows us what He can do with a willing heart. So if the sea looks rough and your courage feels soggy, hand Him the rudder again.
He’s still the Master of the wind and waves — God doesn’t need perfect vessels, He needs willing ones.
