Once upon a Sunday morning in 1987, a car drove along a windy road in the Oregon countryside, the smell of wheat in the field, and the water flowing swiftly by in the irrigation ditch right beside the single lane road. It was a quiet day, and no one was around, when all of a sudden, a strange noise came from the front wheel. The car was no longer going in the direction of the steering wheel but swiftly heading for the ditch that was full of water. The driver panicked, braked frantically, but it was too late, the car rolled and ended upside down in the ditch, the back seat sinking in the water, and the driver, suspended by her seatbelt, upside down! She was bleeding, and she couldn’t get her seatbelt unlocked.

But God
This 16-year-old girl prayed and cried out to God to help her. She tried to open the door, but it was wedged shut. As she cried & prayed, she heard something. A man driving by saw the tires spinning in the air and he stopped. He could have ignored it, but he didn’t, he busted out the window and cut the seatbelt to free the girl. She was safe from imminent danger. Was it coincidence that he drove that lonely country road, and that he chose to stop? I don’t think so. God was working behind the scenes to protect this young lady.
The paramedics came and strapped her to a rigid board, because she was hurting in her back and neck, her eye was gashed open, and they were applying pressure to stop the bleeding. She was being raised by a single mom, who was super sick with fever and vomiting, she couldn’t come to the hospital, who would help in this situation?
Never Forgotten with the Family of God
A man from the church was called, he sometimes volunteered with the youth, and he said he would go to the hospital. When he arrived and talked to her, he told her they wanted to do surgery because of the gash across her eye. He stayed by her side, until it was time to go to surgery. Describing the injury and teasing her about “her mask” from the 2 big black eyes forming. Never leaving, sending updates to her mom.
When the girl was taken to OR, her doctor introduced himself as Dr. Pons, her surgeon. After he explained the procedure, she asked him if her daughter worked in the mall. Sure enough, it was her coworker’s dad, taking care of her. He did a great job stitching her up and today there is hardly a scar. Coincidence? I don’t think so. It was God’s care in calming a frightened young lady.
After surgery, the man from her church family was still there waiting to take her home. Making sure she had everything she needed and was safe at home. Teasing her once again, and making her promise not to look in a mirror for at least 2 weeks.

That girl was me, and I still remember and praise God for His care and bringing people into my life to rescue me, to stay with me, to fix me up. That many coincidences? I don’t think so! It was the Lord. As I wait for an upcoming surgery, and dealing with pain once again, God, is showing up through His people. Still to this day, the Lord is faithful to help and provide care in a difficult situation.

Albert Einstein, one of the greatest scientists of our time, recognized that God was working behind the scenes. Are you calling it coincidence, or praising God for His intervention in your life? https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/albert_einstein_574924

What a beautiful story. We never know when we will be one of God’s coincidences. Always be ready to do the little something that may touch a life for the Lord. Forget self and trust God.
thank you for sharing, Katy
Lisa, ty for sharing this beautiful story. You write so beautifully!
The reason that I started my FB Clubbwas because of the kindness of a stranger, that came and prayed with me at The Hospital. It meant so much to me. My foot had an injury that turned access on the bottom of my foot, I could have lost my whole leg. I believe that God put me through that to truly teach me how to spread his love through my little card ministry. I’m greatful.❤️
We are praying everyday for your healing with no complications.
Thank you for sharing your story, that wasn’t a coincidence that the stranger helped you and me. God was at work. Love you and thanks for your prayers!
Oh my sis! As soon as I started reading I knew it was your story. It was that year we met. I’m so thankful God intervened. You are such a blessing! I’ll be praying for you. I love you so much!❤️
