Please read these 2 stanzas and ask yourself if you have new hope like the free bird or if you are caged and hopeless? “Caged Bird” by Maya Angelou.
The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.
The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill for the caged bird
sings of freedom

New Hope
In these 2 stanzas of Maya Angelou’s powerful poem, we see the contrast of a free bird vs. a caged/trapped bird. Some ladies are caught in traps that they have no control over, but the Holy Spirit tells us that we can be caught in a trap of our own desires. Do you want new hope in the New Year, or will you remain in your cage?
“In the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” 1 Tim 2:25-26
God wants to give you new hope, He wants to grant us repentance, and let us escape the devil’s trap! It is available to every one of you ladies!
Let’s ask the Lord to give us new hope in our relationships. Are you a mother with difficult challenges raising your kids? Maybe you are a wife with troubles in your marriage? Or maybe you are a single lady that is despairing of never finding a good man.
Let’s ask the Lord to give us new hope in our personal struggles. There is new hope for those trapped/caged by addictions. Give your life to Christ and surrender these addictions to Him. If you are alone and brokenhearted, or fighting scary health issues, there is new hope in Christ. He sees you and your struggles and if you a daughter of God, He will help you endure and grow through this time, if you cast your cares on Him.
Living Hope
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” 1 Peter 1:3
The Bible shows us that this living hope comes through the new birth. Maybe you aren’t made new in Christ yet, and you want to be. We would love to talk to you about how to have new birth in Christ and begin this journey never walking alone. Don’t hesitate to send a message if you would like to talk about this.
Or maybe you are a Christian, but have grown weary and despairing, and your hope is dying. Remember God’s mercies are new EVERY SINGLE day. Turn to the Lord and ask for renewed purpose to press on.
When we visited Israel, John and I got up early to see the sun rise over the Sea of Galilee. It was surreal to think of Jesus maybe seeing a sunrise over this same sea. Walking where He walked so long ago. I was so blessed to forever capture this picture of the beautiful free bird flying over the sea. I think of the spiritual hope and freedom we experience with our walk with Jesus. New hope each day we arise, because the Lord goes with us. Ladies, do you have this new hope?
Thanks Lisa for reminding us of our hope in Christ, who frees us from all bondages of self & pride and enters us into a loving and sustainable relationship with God. Very encouraging!
Thanks for your words, I know I needed this encouragement for myself. Appreciate you
Thank you. I love your perspective.
You are welcome! I think we all need some new hope in this new year
